Uttar Pradesh: In a failed robbery bid caught on CCTV, two youths were seen trying to break the ATM of Bank of Maharashtra on Thursday night in Uttar Pradesh's Ujjain. The theives were dressed as women, and had covered their faces with dupatta. They fled the spot after the siren went off as they tried to tamper with the ATM. 


The incident took place in Fazalpura area, which comes under the jurisdiction of Chimanganj Mandi police station area. The duo also sprayed something on the CCTV camera installed in the ATM to protect their identities.


When the robbery did not happen as per their planning, they fled in a rickshaw, which the police have found out from the nearby area. However, the theives remain at large.






Informing about the incident, Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma said: "An attempt was made to cut an ATM in Chimanganj Police Station area, the police reached the spot soon after the siren went off. Both the accused fled the spot. CCTV footage is being scanned in which we have found that an autorickshaw was used, they will soon be arrested. No theft was done in the ATM," says Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma.






The Ujjain police is scanning the CCTV footage to identify the duo involved in the robbery attempt. Further investigation is underway.
