Odisha Tribal Woman Assaulted, Forced To Eat Faeces In Bolangir

Bolangir's Superintendent of Police, Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, expressed confidence that the accused would be arrested soon.

A 20-year-old tribal woman in the Bolangir district of Odisha was allegedly assaulted, and human faeces were forcibly shoved into her mouth, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on November 16 in Jurabandha village in Bangamunda police station area.

According to the report by news agency PTI, the accused, a non-tribal man, was operating a tractor on the agricultural land of a woman, resulting in the damage of crops. When she protested, he assaulted her and forced human faeces into her mouth. The FIR report also claims that when her aunt attempted to intervene, she was also attacked.

During a press conference in Bhubaneswar, BJD MP Niranjan Bisi criticised the police for failing to act against the accused, sparking outrage among the tribal community. He warned that the state government would be held accountable if the law and order situation in Bangamunda deteriorated.

Two Special Teams Formed To Arrest Accused: Police

Bolangir's Superintendent of Police, Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, stated that the accused has been absconding after committing the crime. "We have formed two special teams to nab him. Even police teams have been sent to neighbouring states in search of him," the SP said.

The SP expressed confidence that the accused would be apprehended soon. A case has been registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, another police official confirmed.

In a separate incident, a young woman allegedly attempted to assault traffic police officers at the ESI Hospital junction in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, causing a stir at the busy intersection on Thursday (October 26). The incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, involved the woman, identified as Sonam, in a heated altercation with law enforcement over a parking dispute.

According to reports, the confrontation began when Sonam had a disagreement with another commuter, leading to an intervention by traffic police officers. Witnesses claimed that during the chaos, Sonam’s behavior escalated, and she began shouting in Hindi, making threats against the officers' jobs.
