Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has made serious allegations of corruption within the municipal department, accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of awarding a contract worth Rs 1,132 crore to his brother-in-law. According to KTR, the contract was passed through the public health department without adhering to proper procedures, claiming that the awarded company lacked the necessary technical expertise.
"In the state of Telangana, where the current CM is also the Municipal Minister, there has been a major scam in the Municipal Department. A scam of Rs 8,868 crore has been carried out through the Public Health Department by the CM... When you took the oath as CM, you said that no family member or relative would gain any profit through your office. But today you gave your brother-in-law such a huge project flouting the rules," KT Rama Rao said.

KTR further highlighted that this is not the first instance of alleged corruption recalling a previous accusation of a Rs 1,000 crore scam involving the procurement of fine variety rice and paddy lifting in the state. He demanded a judicial inquiry led by a sitting judge to investigate the claims, criticising the Congress party for being historically associated with scams.
He called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to provide an explanation on the matter. The allegations have stirred political tension, with KTR urging immediate action to ensure transparency and accountability.
