Three people including a Class 7 student were electrocuted to death in the Tirupathur district of Tamil Nadu after accidentally stepping onto an illegal electric fence meant to keep wild boars out of farmland. The incident took place in Perumpattu village, near Jolarpet town, at the base of the Yelagiri Hills on Sunday.
According to police, the victims were identified as K. Singaram (45), an ayurveda practitioner, his son S. Lokesh (15), and S. Karipriyan (65), a farm worker employed by Singaram. A homemade weapon, explosives, torches, and nets were also found at the scene.

As per the report of news agency IANS, Karipriyan is a resident of Perumapattu village in the Yelagiri Hills, while Singaram and his son Lokesh are from Mookkannoor village, which is close to Jolarpettai town.
Police stated that the trio had ventured into the nearby reserve forest to hunt small wild animals, such as rabbits and spotted deer in the early hours of Sunday. They were returning to the farmland when they accidentally stepped on the electrified fence.
Investigation Launched
The farmland where the incident occurred is owned by K. Murugan and had been leased to farmer S. Nidhi, who had been cultivating cereals on the three-acre plot for over a year.
Police said Nidhi has been growing cereals on the three-acre site for over a year. It must be highlighted that the farmer installed illegal electric fencing around the plot to keep wild animals from destroying the crops because the village is situated in the foothills of the reserve forest.
Soon after the incident, the Karusalipettu Police rushed to the spot after they were informed by the headman of the village. Later, the bodies were sent to the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur town for post-mortem. Police have filed a case and an investigation is still in process.
