A sudden explosion rocked a firecracker manufacturing unit in Sattur, located in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district, on Saturday, causing significant damage to the facility and nearby buildings. According to police officials, the explosion occurred in a warehouse where fireworks were being stored, triggering a large fire.


A spokesperson from the fire and rescue department said, "An explosion took place at a firecracker manufacturing factory in the Sattur area of Virudhunagar district. The fire team is present at the spot."

Fire tenders from both Sattur and the nearby town of Sivakasi, which is renowned for its firecracker industry, were immediately dispatched to the scene to bring the blaze under control. Fire and rescue department personnel are actively working to extinguish the flames, and efforts are underway to assess the full extent of the damage.


The powerful blast caused damage to several nearby places with the impact felt across the vicinity. Police officials stated that a detailed assessment of the destruction will be carried out once the fire is completely put out.


The fire accident occurred just a month before Diwali, a time when the industry typically experiences heightened demand for firecrackers in preparation for the festival celebrations.


Meanwhile, a fire broke out at Tata Electricals in the cell phone manufacturing unit in Hosur, Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district. As soon as the fire broke out, the employees of the company escaped from the fire. Later, firefighting crews were pushed into service to control the fire.
