Trichy news: Around eight schools received bomb threat over email in Trichy on Thursay. Based on the information from the schools, the bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs rushed to the campuses in Trichy.
Trichy City Police said, "8 schools in Trichy city received a bomb threat over email today. Trichy bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were rushed to the school to search for the bomb."
Upon receiving the email, the management of Campion School in Manapparai promptly notified the police. A bomb detection and disposal squad conducted a thorough search of the school premises and extended their search to other institutions that had received similar threats.
The schools targeted by the bomb threat included St. Joseph's College, Holy Cross College, Campion School in Manapparai, Sammath School, Arcot School, Acharya School, Kampan School, St. Anne's School, and Rajam Public School, as per a report on PTI.
After completing the searches, police confirmed that the threats were hoaxes, and no explosives were found.
Last month, several private schools in the city received bomb threats via email prompting police to urge the public not to panic. A few schools, primarily within the Foreshore Estate and Mylapore Police Station limits, declared a holiday after receiving the email.
An official told PTI that an investigation is underway based on the email. In February, similar bomb threats were emailed to private schools. During that time, parents hurried to schools in areas such as Gopalapuram and Anna Nagar after receiving notifications from the schools or seeing the news on local TV channels. While some parents expressed frustration over the lack of proper arrangements to quickly disperse the students, the crowding and confusion outside the schools prompted the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) to issue an appeal, urging the public not to panic.
