Surat Railway Track Tampered
The incident involved a significant tampering attempt with the railway track, where the accused removed two fish plates securing the ends of two rails and loosened approximately 40-50 bolts. This sabotage was detected by a lineman who inspected the track around 5.30 am and alerted railway authorities before any trains could pass through the affected section between Kosamba and Kim railway stations, news agency PTI reported.
Deputy Superintendent of Police RR Sarvaiya confirmed that the railway engineers and staff quickly responded to repair the damage, allowing train movements to resume shortly after. Inspector PH Jadeja from Kim police station underscored the seriousness of the situation, stating, "It was an attempt to derail the train, and an accident was averted due to the alertness of the railway staff."
A case was registered and investigations were launched to determine the full extent of the conspiracy.
