Birupaksha Biswas Transferred
The Swasthya Bhawan transferred Birupaksha Biswas, accused of threatening students, within 24 hours of Sandip Ghosh's suspension. According to sources in the Health Department, Birupaksha Biswas was transferred on Tuesday from Burdwan Medical College to Kakdwip Sub-Divisional Hospital. Several medical students had lodged complaints of intimidation against Birupaksha Biswas.
On August 9, the day when a junior doctor was raped and murdered on the RG Kar Medical College premises, Birupaksha Biswas was at the campus. Indian Medical Association raised suspicion of Birupaksha being at the crime scene based on a viral photo. He has, however, denied that he was at the crime scene.

Birupaksha Biswas also said that his transfer has no connection with the RG Kar MCH incident. He said that he was sent to a North Bengal medical college based on his post-graduation marks. When he refused to go there, he was transferred to the hospital in Kakdwip.
He said, "A merit-based counselling was done eight months ago. Based on my PG marks, the Swasthya Bhawan decided to conduct a counselling session. I had the option of going to Kakdwip, Cooch Behar, or Jalpaiguri. I chose Kakdweep. It is a routine transfer.
