In an incident which doesn't bode well for Rajasthan's tourism sector, a Thai tourist has been shot in Udaipur. The woman from Thailand was shot in the back by an unknown assailant. She was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. However, she is now reported to be stable following medical treatment.

The tourist, a 24-year-old woman named Thongkhoth, was staying at a hotel in the Mali Colony area. Police are still investigating when and by whom the shooting took place. A special team has been assigned to the case to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the attacker.

Thongkhoth reportedly came to India with a friend to tour the country and was visiting Udaipur when the incident occurred. Police investigations revealed that she left her hotel around 1:30 AM on Friday night with her friend. This was confirmed via CCTV footage from the area.

Udaipur Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogesh Goyal was quoted by news website ETv that the woman was initially rushed to a private hospital after the shooting, but was later moved to Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital in Udaipur for further treatment.

Police are actively investigating the case and have assured the public that the assailant will be apprehended soon. The number of people involved in the attack remains unclear, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to track down those responsible.

The shooting of the Thai tourist is not the first incident in Rajasthan. Last month, a French woman was found dead in a hotel in Jaisalmer. 53-year-old George Silvi came to Jaisalmer with a group. She was not keeping well and consulted a medic at the hotel. She died in her room later.
