TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee slammed the BJP for "double standards" when it came to dealing with sexual abuse cases. Abhishek cited data from the National Crime Records Bureau to point out that Uttar Pradesh had the highest cases of crimes against women in India.
"UP is followed by Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. UP registered 41,733 cases of crimes against women in the last 10 years. MP recorded 36,144 such cases; Rajasthan and Maharashtra saw nearly 28,000 and 25,000 cases, respectively," said Abhishek Banerjee at a TMC Chhatra Parishad Foundation Day event in the Mayo Road area in Kolkata.
Taking a jibe at the BJP's "double-engine" government pitch, Abhishek Banerjee said CMs of all the four states should resign before the BJP demands Mamata Banerjee's resignation. Mamata Banerjee, too, said that crimes against women had increased in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. She said that no one, not even PM Narendra Modi, had resigned when women and girls of these states were being sexually abused.

Soon both the accused men were arrested. The alleged incident occurred at the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jodhpur city.
The two men who allegedly raped her are said to be contractual sanitation workers at the hospital. The hospital, however, said that only one of them worked there for some time, but the other had never worked at the facility, reported Zee Rajasthan.
The girl purportedly left her home after a fight with her parents. A kidnapping report was filed at the police station by the family when she failed to return home. When the police found the girl, the victim revealed that she had been gang-raped.
