Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday suffered a minor hair-line fracture of his right foot in Amritsar, Punjab. He sustained the injury during his visit to Akal Takht Sahib secretariat, following which he was taken to Amritsar Medical College for treatment.
Badal had gone to Akal Takht Sahib secretariat to urge Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib to take an early decision regarding a complaint filed against him.
Informing about the incident and giving an update on Badal's health, Daljit S Cheema said in a post on X that the SAD supremo was absolutely fine and had started for his next destination immediately after receiving the treatment.
"S Sukhbir S Badal suffered a minor hair line fracture of a small bone of right foot in Amritsar today. Nothing to worry about. With the blessings of Guru Sahib he is absolutely fine & started for his next destination immediately after treatment at a local hospital. Thanks to all concerned please," informed Senior SAD leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema.
Badal Had Gone To Submit A Request For Punishment After Being Declared 'Tankhaiya'
Badal had gone to submit a request before the Akal Takht Sahib, stating that it's been two and a half months since he was declared 'tankhaiya' (guilty of religious misconduct), but is yet to receive sentence for it.
He urged that his punishment be announced as soon as possible so he can serve it in time. The SAD chief also stated that he has been unable carry out any social or political activities since he was declared 'tankhaiya' over two and a half months ago. He added that this was affecting the work of the party, and thus requested a swift pronouncement of his sentence.
While seated there, Badal had a fall from his chair, which led to a hairline fracture on his toe.
Sukhbir Badal was declared tankhaiya in August this year by the Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal seat. He was found guilty of religious misconduct for "taking decisions that deeply harmed the image of the Panth and greatly weakned the SAD and Sikh interests". The verdict was pronounced from the Takht in the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar by jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh.
