Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Tarlochan Singh was allegedly shot dead by unidentified assailants in Khanna, located in Ludhiana district, on Monday evening, according to police. The 60-year-old leader, a resident of Ikolaha village, was attacked while returning home from his farm, news agency PTI reported. Singh, who served as the president of AAP's kisan wing in Khanna, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. The police have initiated an investigation and are actively working to trace the attackers.

His son Harpreet Singh Happy, along with other villagers, found him lying in a pool of blood before he was rushed to the hospital.
According to Hindustan Times, Tarlochan had been involved in village politics for a while and had previously run unsuccessfully for the position of sarpanch. After joining the AAP, he became president of the party's farmer wing and was preparing to run in the upcoming sarpanch election. His son Harpreet suggested that a personal rivalry might be behind his father's murder.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashwini Gotyal, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saurav Jindal, Khanna DSP Amritpal Singh Bhati, and CIA staff in-charge Amandeep Singh arrived at the scene to investigate. SP Saurav Jindal stated that the motive for the murder remains unknown and that all possibilities are being considered.

Shiv Sena (Punjab) Leader Attacked By Three Nihang Sikhs In Ludhiana
In July, Shiv Sena (Punjab) leader Sandeep Thapar was attacked by three Nihang Sikhs outside the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana. Thapar, a descendant of prominent leader Sukhdev Thapar, was ambushed with swords in the middle of the street. The attackers also seized the revolver of Thapar's accompanying gunman before fleeing the scene on his scooter, according to ABP Sanjha.
The assailants escaped following the attack, leaving Thapar in a critical condition. He was hospitalised following the attack. Ludhiana police commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal had informed that two of the three assailants involved were arrested. The arrested accused are identified as Sarabjit Singh and Harjot Singh and are residents of Ludhiana.
