Gangster Aman Sao Killed In Encounter In Jharkhand's Palamu
In a separate incident, a gangster identified as Aman Sao, accused in over 150 cases, was killed in an encounter with the police on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) in Jharkhand's Palamu district. The incident took place when members of his gang tried to free him from police custody and attacked the vehicle in which he was being brought to Ranchi from Raipur jail in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
When they attempted to free him near Andheritola in Ramgarh police station area, a clash broke out between the gang members and the police, resulting in a gunfight. Sao was killed and another police personnel was injured in the encounter, news agency PTI reported citing Medininagar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manibhushan Prasad.
The incident took place a day after the state Director General of Police, Anurag Gupta, stated that most crime plots in the state are being hatched inside jails and executed with the help of criminal gangs.
Officials told PTI that when Sao's gang members launched the attack to free him, the gangster snatched an INSAS rifle from an STF jawan and opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate in self-defence, which led to Sao's death.
