In the biggest drugs bust in Punjab, police have seized 105 kg of heroin and arrested two associates of a foreign-based drug smuggler. The cross-border smuggling racket was being operated through a water route. Those who have been arrested are identified as Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar.


The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, said the water route was used to transport drugs from Pakistan and big rubber tubes of tyres have also been recovered. Five foreign-made and one country-made pistols have also been recovered from the accused men.

An FIR has been registered and investigations are underway, the officer said.


Drugs Seizure In Delhi


The arrests in Punjab were made days after Delhi Police busted a drug trafficking bid and seized around 200 kilograms of cocaine from a warehouse in the Ramesh Nagar area. The seized contraband was reportedly valued at Rs 2,000 crore. Before this, the Delhi Police seized drugs worth Rs 5,600 from the national capital.


Four people, identified as Tushar Goyal (40), Himanshu Kumar (27) and Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) and Bharat Kumar Jain (48), were arrested on the spot during the raid, while two others were subsequently held from Amritsar and Chennai.


Delhi Police has also issued a lookout circular (LOC) against Indian-origin Dubai-based businessman Virender Basoya, who is suspected to be involved in the Rs 5,620 crore drug cartel.
