The India Meteorological Department has forecast unseasonal rains in Pune city for three days from Tuesday, April 1. An orange alert has been issued for several areas for April 1 and 2. Eight cities in the state are under an orange alert for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rains with lightning in Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad and adjoining rural areas on April 1 and 2.

Pune residents are likely to get some relief from the scorching heat due to unseasonal rains. The IMD has also forecast that the temperature will drop from 40 to 36 degrees Celsius between April 2 and 5. "Under the influence of trough and wind confluence over Central and adjoining parts of Maharashtra in lower tropospheric levels, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur over the region during April 1 to 4. Possibility ofhailstorms with gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph are also very likely at isolated places over interior parts on April 1 and 2," a bulletin from the IMD read.

A western cyclone has become active from the Himalayas to North India. Due to the formation of a low-pressure area in the state of Tamil Nadu as well, the cyclonic storm is starting in most parts of the country today (Tuesday). In this, the cyclonic storm will affect the entire country from the Himalayas to Northeast India, Central India, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra to South India from April 1 to 4.

An Orange Alert has been issued in the districts of Pune (April 1, 2), Satara (April 2), Jalgaon (April 1), Nashik (April 1), Ahilyanagar (April 1), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (April 1, 2), Jalna (April 1, 2), and Gondia (April 2).

A Yellow Alert has been issued in Thane (April 1, 2), Raigad (April 1, 2), Ratnagiri (April 1, 2), Sindhudurg (April 1 to 4), Dhule (April 2), Nandurbar (April 2), Jalgaon (April 2), Nashik (April 2), Ahilyanagar (April 2), Kolhapur (April 1 to 4), Satara (April 1, 3), Sangli (April 1 to 4), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (April 3), Jalna (April 3), Parbhani (April 4), Beed (April 2, 3), Nanded (April 4), Latur (April 3, 4), Dharashiv (April 3, 4), Akola (April 1, 2), Amravati (April 1, 2), Bhandara (April 1 to 4), Chandrapur (April 3, 4), Gadchiroli (April 3, 4), Gondia (April 3, 4), Nagpur (April 2, 3), Wardha (April 3, 4), Washim (April 2, 3), and Yavatmal (April 3).
