A man on Tuesday stabbed his colleague to death with a kitchen knife in the parking lot of their office in Pune, Maharashtra over a financial dispute. The video of the shocking incident has now surfaced on social media and shows bystanders witnessing the horrific attack. However, no one intervened.
The man is said to have been enraged because the 28-year-old woman had borrowed money from him under false pretences.
The 30-year-old accused, Krishna Kanoja, is an accountant at WNS Global, a business process outsourcing (BPO) company in Yerawada. He told the police that his colleague Shubhada Kodare borrowed money from him several times, telling him that she needed it for her father's treatment as he was unwell.
However, when Kanoja asked her to return his money, Kodare refused, citing her father's health condition as the reason. The accused visited her native place to corroborate the story he was being told. He then discovered that Kodare's father was not suffering from any health issues as his daughter had claimed.
Horrific Act Caught On Cam
On Tuesday, Kanoja called Kodare to the office's parking lot at around 6 PM to confront her and ask her to return his money. When Kodare refused, an argument started between the two, and Kanoja stabbed her multiple times with a kitchen knife. As per a report by India Today, a dispute had already taken place between them earlier that day.
The incident was caught on camera and the video has surfaced on social media. Visuals show several people in the parking lot, while the man was stabbing the victim. Kanoja can be seen brandishing a kitchen knife and charging it at the woman, who was lying on the ground in pain.
Despite repeated attempts to defend herself during the attack, Kanoja did not stop and continued to stab Kodare. It was only after she collapsed on the ground that Kanoja threw the weapon and the crowd surrounded him.
Kodare was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries including her elbow. She suffered excessive blood loss and was declared dead at around 9 PM on Tuesday. Kanoja was booked under Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and later arrested by the police.
