Noida News: Dog Shelter Worker Attacked By Pitbull, Hospitalised With Leg Injury

Dogs are known for their loyalty and playfulness, but they can sometimes become aggressive and also attack people. In a harrowing incident on Monday, a pitbull attacked a worker at a dog shelter in Noida, leaving him hospitalised with leg injuries. The incident occurred at a dog shelter home in Sector 108 of Noida.

In the video, which has surfaced on the internet, the pitbull could be seen lunging at the man’s right leg and biting him. The worker, floored, started bleeding, but the dog kept on biting his leg. The worker was later rescued with the help of the other workers and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

The recent attack has raised concerns about the safety of both workers and visitors at shelter homes that house aggressive dog breeds like pitbulls. It also serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of housing certain dog breeds in confined spaces.

Centre's Action Amid Rise In Cases Of Dog Attacks

In 2024, the Centre, seeing the rise in dog attacks, directed the states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 breeds of ferocious dogs. The list includes Pitbull Terrier, American Bulldog, and Rottweiler.

Besides, Tosa Inu, American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, Boerboel Kangal, Central Asian Shepherd Dog, Caucasian Shepherd Dog, South Russian Shepherd Dog, Tornjak, Sarplaninac, Japanese Tosa and Akita, Mastiffs, Terriers, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Wolf Dogs, Canario, Akbash Dog, Moscow Guard Dog, Cane Corso, and Bandog were among the other breeds sought to be banned from the Centre.

Earlier in February, a pet husky attacked a man inside a clinic. The video, captured by a CCTV camera, was posted by a user named gharkekalesh on X (formerly Twitter).

In the beginning of the video, two men can be seen sitting on a sofa, with one holding the leash of a dog, though the dog is itself free. One man could be seen playing with the husky while the other could be seen recording the interaction on the phone. The dog, after a while, approached the man and started to move around him before suddenly grabbing his hand and attacking him out of nowhere. The man, reacting quickly, managed to pull his hand away from the dog’s grip and hold it by the collar.
