A GST commissioner who was battling cancer and depression died by suicide on Monday after he jumped off from the 14th floor of his apartment in Uttar Pradesh's Noida.
The deceased identified as Sanjay Singh was a Deputy Commissioner in the Goods and Services Tax Department, Ghaziabad. According to the police, the family said that Singh had been suffering from cancer and depression for a long time.
As per the Noida police media cell, at around 11 am the police were alerted about a man who died by suicide in Apex Anthena Society in Noida Sector 75 by jumping off from the 14th floor. Police immediately reached the spot and found that the deceased was 59-year-old Sanjay Singh who lived in the 2004 A tower of the society.
Singh was posted as Deputy Commissioner in the GST department in Ghaziabad, the cops said.
The police have taken possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem and further investigation into the incident is underway.
