Mysuru news: In an unexpected turn of events ahead of the Mysuru Dussehra festival, two elephants caused a stir at the Mysore Palace after a brief clash led one of them to break free from its enclosure, causing chaos on a busy street. The incident unfolded when two elephants, Dhananjaya and Kanchan, involved in the traditional preparations for the grand procession.
Around 11 elephants were brought to participate in the traditional grand procession as part of Dusshera which is set to take place on October 12.
On Friday, after the rehearsal, the elephants collided during their evening feeding session.
The video showed that after the scuffle, Kanchan, spooked by the clash, broke through the barriers of the palace complex and sprinted onto the bustling city streets. The sudden appearance of the elephant caused panic among locals, with many fleeing the area in fear.

For over an hour, forest officials, veterinarians, and a second elephant worked together to bring the frightened Kanchan back under control. Meanwhile, Dhananjaya was successfully calmed down by his mahout and returned to the palace camp without further incident.
Despite the dramatic scene, no injuries were reported, and no damage occurred during the commotion. This is the first such incident reported in recent years ahead of the Mysuru Dussehra event, as reported by Deccan Herald.
