Ex-Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray In Hospital For Angioplasty; Son Aaditya Assures 'All Is Well'

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray reportedly underwent an angioplasty at HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai due to blockages in his heart. His son, Aaditya Thackeray, posted about his well-being.

Former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray underwent a medical check-up at Sir HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai on Monday. The check-up included an angioplasty procedure to treat blockages in his heart.

MLA Aaditya Thackeray, his son, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an update. He wrote, "This morning, Uddhav Thackeray ji did a pre-planned detailed check-up at the Sir HN Reliance Hospital. With your best wishes, all is well, and he is fully ready to get to work and serve the people."

Sources close to Uddhav Thackeray revealed that he had not been feeling well since the Dussehra rally held earlier. Consequently, he was taken to the hospital for a check-up on Monday. The tests confirmed the presence of blockages in his heart. Notably, Uddhav Thackeray had previously undergone an angioplasty in 2012 as well. Angioplasty is a non-surgical procedure used to detect and treat blockages in the heart.

As per reports, Uddhav Thackeray remains under medical observation at the hospital. Close aides mentioned that after he delivered a speech at Shivaji Park on October 12 during Shiv Sena UBT's Dussehra rally, his health deteriorated.

Uddhav Thackeray's Dussehra Speech Targeted Eknath Shinde, BJP

During the rally, Uddhav Thackeray launched an attack on his aide-turned-foe Eknath Shinde, asserting that his faction of the Shiv Sena is the legitimate Shiv Sena. He emphasised, "Our party's name is associated with Balasaheb Thackeray, which is why our Shiv Sena is the real Shiv Sena."

He defended his decision to break off the alliance with the BJP, stating, "I did not abandon the ideology of my father, but only parted ways with the BJP because I don't agree with its version of Hindutva." He urged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to introspect, asking, "Have a 'chintan shibir' (brainstorming meet) and introspect if you agree with the present-day BJP which has become a hybrid."
