A case has been registered by the police against three women and a man for allegedly thrashing a BJP corporator in a public space in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The four suspects have accused the corporator of extorting money from them, according to a PTI report.

A video of the three women assaulting corporator Arvind Verma, who represents ward no. 48, has surfaced on social media.

Based on a complaint from the corporator, a case was registered against Paras Meena, his wife and mother. “One more woman of the Meena family has been booked for beating, abusing and threatening the corporator,” Chunabhatti police station inspector Bhupendra Kaur Sindhu told PTI on Sunday.

The police have also received a complaint from Meena, alleging the corporator was extorting money from them, as per the PTI report. Sindhu said they are investigating the matter and will take action based on the findings.

Reports in the local media suggest Verma was beaten up after he made inappropriate comments against the suspects.

BJP Corporator Attacked By 'Workers Of A Different BJP Lobby'

In 2022, a BJP corporator was attacked by around 15 people in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Nityanand Nadar alias Vasu Anna, 45, a two-term corporator who was earlier in the Shiv Sena, was attacked with a stone, an iron rod as well as a wooden stick.

Vasu Anna told Hindustan Times that the attack “was by party workers of a different lobby of BJP”, and that he had warned senior leaders regarding the “inter-party rivalry and lobbying by a few unhappy party workers".

As per the report, after he left his office in his car, he was cornered by the assailants and attacked. The assailants also damaged his car and fled. His supporters who found out about the attack subsequently rushed to the spot and took Nadar to hospital.
