In a tragic road mishap, four labourers were killed and 13 others injured when their speeding truck overturned in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Monday morning, police said, PTI reported.
According to an official, the incident took place when a sugarcane-laden truck was going from Kannad to Pishor, and its driver lost control over the wheels at the Pishor ghat. This led to the accident and the truck overturned.
As many as 17 labourers were travelling on the truck, and they fell down on the road and got trapped under the heap of sugarcane. While 13 of them were pulled out alive, four labourers unfortunately died. The official said that the injured labourers were rushed to a hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
Car Crashed Into Lorry In Telangana
A friends' road trip ended on a tragic note after the car they were travelling in collided with a parked lorry in Telangana's Narketpally. Two of the friends died in the accident, while three others sustained injuries.
The incident took place early Sunday morning. Police suspect that the car driver might have failed to notice the parked lorry due to thick fog on the national highway, resulting in the deadly crash, Times Of India reported.
The deceased were identified as 24-year-old C Sangam Sandeep and K Sai Kumar Goud aged 32. One of the deceased was seated next to the car driver, while the other was in the rear seat. The three injured were shifted to a private hospital, the report said citing Narketpally police.
The road accident resulted in a traffic jam in Narketpally on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway.
As per the report, the five-member group was traveling to Vijayawada from Alwal when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision is said to be so severe that the car was mangled.
