The Enforcement Directorate on Monday raided the premises linked to former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel's son, Chaitanya Baghel in Bhilai. The central investigation agency conducted raids at nearly 14 locations across the state, including premises linked to Chaitanya Baghel and others.
The raid was conducted under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to probe the alleged financial irregularities and money laundering cases in connection with the Chhattisgarh liquor 'scam'.
The Enforcement Directorate had earlier said the liquor 'scam' resulted in massive loss to the state exchequer, while beneficiaries of a liquor syndicate siphoned off over Rs 2,100 crore of proceeds of crime.
The ED has arrested many persons, including state government bureaucrats and businessmen, in connection with the alleged liquor scam.

Bhupesh Baghel Reacts To ED Searches
Following the searches at the premises of his son Chaitanya Bahgel, the former Chhattisgarh CM took to X, where he said that the raids were conducted as part of a conspiracy to "stop Congress".
"When the false case going on for seven years was dismissed in the court, today, the guests of ED entered the Bhilai residence of former CM and Congress General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel this morning. If someone is trying to stop Congress in Punjab through this conspiracy, then it is a misunderstanding," the post by office of Bhupesh Baghel noted.
