CCTV footage has emerged showing a shocking chain-snatching attempt in Tamil Nadu's Madurai wherein a woman was violently dragged for several meters by two on a bike. The incident occurred near the Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal in the Pandadi area.
According to ABP Nadu, Dhuarakanath and Manjula, a couple from the locality, went shopping on Sunday to purchase new clothes and household items in preparation for Diwali. After their shopping in the Mattuthavani and Keelavasal areas, they returned home on a two-wheeler, with Dhuarakanath parking the vehicle as Manjula disembarked.
At that moment, two unidentified individuals on a high-end Yamaha R15 motorcycle approached them. Attempting to steal the gold chain worn by Manjula, the assailants yanked at the chain, but she managed to hold on tightly. This led to a violent struggle as she was dragged for several meters after which the chain broke, leaving a portion in the hands of the thieves and the other still around Manjula's neck, ABP Nadu's report stated.
The CCTV footage of this incident has been widely shared, causing considerable worries in the area.
Following the incident, the South Vasal police have registered a case and are actively investigating the matter. They are working to identify the culprits using the CCTV footage to trace the motorcycle and the suspects involved in the theft.
