Man Orders ₹1.5 lakh iPhone From Flipkart On COD, Kills Delivery Agent In Lucknow
A man ordered an iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh online and allegedly killed the delivery agent when he came to his home to deliver the phone. The accused along with his accomplice dumped the body of the 30-year-old victim into the Indira Canal in the city. A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been called to find it, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh said one of the accused men, Gajanan, had ordered the iPhone worth about ₹1.5 lakh from Flipkart and opted for COD (Cash on Delivery) payment.
"On September 23, delivery boy, Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, went to deliver the phone at his place where he was killed by Gajanan and his accomplice. After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed it off in the Indira Canal," he said.
Sahu's family registered a missing person complaint on September 25 at the Chinhat police station after he did not return home for two days. While scanning Sahu's call details and trying to trace his location, police found Gajanan's number and managed to reach his friend Akash. During interrogation, Akash confessed to the crime, police said.
The officer added that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team is trying to find the body of the victim in the canal.
In another incident, a Bengaluru resident has claimed that a person posed as a Flipkart delivery boy and tried to hand over a parcel, claiming it was the iPhone 15 he had ordered. The man alleged that the delivery boy refused to let him open the box and tried to force him into accepting it. "I recorded the whole interaction. He was scared. I did not accept the package," he added.
The man had opted for an open-box delivery, which allows the customer to open a sealed delivery box and check its content before accepting the delivery.
