Dr Surhita Paul, the new principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, was sacked by the West Bengal government after students' protests. The hospital superintendent and the HoD of the chest department at the hospital were also sacked.
Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly along with his daughter Sana Ganguly took part in the protest against the rape-murder case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. His wife Dona Ganguly was also present at the protest.
On RG Kar Medical College & Hospital rape-murder case, Dona Ganguly, wife of former Team India Captain Sourav Ganguly said: "We are protesting against rape. We need a safe society. Rape needs to stop."
Akhtar Ali, Ex-Deputy Superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, alleged that the former principal Sandip Ghosh is involved in a "huge nexus" that involves "many scams like biomedical waste, dead bodies, failing students, taking money from them and giving illegal stall kiosks, unnecessary tenders".
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari urged doctors protesting against the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case to return to work.
"The horrific incident that happened with the doctor of Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital, everyone is deeply saddened after this, the level of grief cannot be expressed in words. I would request the doctors that they should return to work," he said.
West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari, along with others held a protest rally against the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder incident, in Kolkata.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has written a letter to the West Bengal Chief Secretary to deploy CISF forces on the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital premises. It has also asked the secretary to carry out the deployment as per the Supreme Court order.
In order to ensure compliance with the SC's order, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed IG CISF Kolkata Sector Shikhar Sahay as the nodal officer.
The CISF team, along with Kolkata Police, had also visited RG Kar Hospital today. CISF is likely to soon take over full responsibility for the security of the hospital premises.
Film director Vivek Agnihotri, who joined the ongoing protests against the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder incident, in Kolkata today said: "Since the time of the Direct Action Day, rape has been used as a political weapon. In Bengal, communal, political, electoral violence should end. And we have to make Bengal great again. And that is possible only if the current political system is completely changed...This government has completely failed. I have come here because many young people are asking me. I want them to get inspired that yes, if I can stand here and protest, they can too... We have to make Bengal great again if we want India to succeed."
The CBI will investigate the car of the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh. The car has been brought to the CBI office in CGO Complex, Kolkata. It was used by Ghosh while he was the principal of RG Kar Hospital.
The CBI is interrogating a person named Saurabh, whom Sanjay Roy had visited at the RG Kar hospital. According to sources, Saurabh needed to get a test done for one of his relatives and had met with Roy before the incident. It is suspected that Sanjay drank alcohol with him on the day of the incident.

When she was 3 months pregnant, he caused a miscarriage. He thrashed her; a police complaint was registered for the same. Following this, my daughter continued being ill, and I bore all her expenses for medicines... Sanjoy was not good. Hang him or do whatever you want with him. I won't speak about the crime. He could not have done it alone. He doesn't have the capacity to do it alone," Roy’s mother-in-law said, as quoted by ANI.
Following the order of the Supreme Court, Kolkata police has taken strict action against the vandalism at RG Kar College and Hospital, suspending a high-rank officer and three other police officials for failing to control the situation at the college premises.

SC Grills Bengal Govt Over Handling Of RG Kar Rape-Murder Case
The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard the suo motu case over the rape and murder of a doctor at the RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Kolkata. The apex court grilled the West Bengal government over its handling of the case and asked why the FIR was registered at 11:45 PM when the crime was detected early in the morning.
The CJI DY Chandrachud led bench said that the case has shocked the conscience of the nation and expressed concern over the victim's pictures and names being circulated on social media.
"We took suo motu action because this is not just the matter of a particular horrific murder and rape...but it raises systemic issue of safety of doctors across India," CJI said. The apex court while hearing the case posed several questions to Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appearing for the West Bengal Government.
"Crime is detected early in morning, the principal tries to pass this off as suicide and untill night there was no FIR? What was the principal doing? Why no FIR till late in the night? A matter of serious concern !" The CJI said.
