Comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada has come under attack, sending shockwaves through his supporters and sparking heightened security measures in India.

The incident took place on Wednesday night in Surrey, British Columbia, when an unidentified assailant opened fire at Kapil Sharma’s Canada-based Kap's Café. The attacker fired 12 bullets into the café’s glass façade, causing significant damage but no reported injuries.

Soon after, wanted Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi, linked to the banned organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), claimed responsibility for the attack. Laddi is listed among India’s most wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Following the firing, police and intelligence agencies in India were placed on alert. Mumbai Police’s local unit reached Kapil Sharma’s flat in Lokhandwala, Andheri, to assess the security situation. The Oshiwara Police Station team visited DLH Enclave, the building where Sharma resides, and conducted a thorough inspection of the premises. Officers also spoke with the society’s private security staff to gather inputs. Notably, the complex houses several prominent figures from Bollywood and the television industry.

It remains unclear whether Kapil Sharma has received any threats in Mumbai or faces any immediate risk. The police have not issued any statement confirming a threat directed at him personally.
