Senior BRS leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), K Kavitha, has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for a series of medical tests. Kavitha has been reportedly experiencing health issues since her time in Tihar Jail where she was held in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.

She reportedly faced complications including high fever and gynecological problems, leading her to undergo medical evaluations at AIIMS in Delhi earlier.

Kavitha's legal troubles escalated earlier this year, with the Enforcement Directorate arresting her on March 15, 2024, followed by another arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 11, 2024. The current medical check-up aims to address these ongoing health concerns, and she is expected to complete the tests soon.

Kavitha, a member of the Telangana Legislative Council and daughter of BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was released from Tihar Jail on August 27 after over five months of imprisonment related to corruption and money laundering cases. The Supreme Court granted her bail.

Upon her release, Kavitha pledged to continue her fight, expressing deep emotion after reuniting with her son, brother, and husband. She attributed her imprisonment to political motives, asserting that the nation recognized her situation as politically driven and maintaining that she had done nothing wrong.

Meanwhile, the ED and the CBI have alleged that irregularities occurred in the modification of the excise policy. They claim that undue favours were granted to license holders, the license fees were either waived or reduced, and the L-1 license was extended without proper approval from the competent authority, as per ANI.
