A major tragedy was averted on Monday at Shimla's Jubbarhatti Airport after a technical glitch forced the pilot of an Alliance Air flight to apply emergency brakes just in time.
According to the details, the aircraft was carrying 44 passengers, including Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and the state's Director General of Police (DGP) Atul Verma.
As per the details, a pilot of flight number 9I821 Alliance Air flight from Delhi to Shimla reported technical glitch in brake of the flight during landing at Shimla airport.
Sources from Shimla airport said that all 44 passengers including Deputy CM Of Himachal Pradesh and DGP Verma are safe and the aircraft has been grounded for inspection.

Himachal Pradesh Dy CM Mukesh Agnihotri said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "... We reached Shimla via flight this morning. There was some issue with its landing... I don't know the technicalities, but I can tell as a layman that when the plane was about to land, it did not touch the ground where it should have. It could not stop and reached the spot where the runway ended. The plane turned at the edge of the runway, and reached a point where it could be stopped... Strong brakes were applied to stop the plane... We had to stay in the plane for another 20-25 minutes..."
