Haryana News: Notices were issued to some residents of Chintels Paradiso society in Gurugram’s Sector 109 after it was declared unsafe for habitation. The District town and country planning (enforcement) department has issued notices to eight families of Tower J of the society.
They have been given 10 days to vacate the building. If they fail to do so, they will be held responsible for harm due to any untoward incident, as per a Time of India report. The action follows an order from the deputy commissioner, which mandated the evacuation of the tower due to safety concerns.
The district town planner (enforcement) has issued instructions to the management of Chintels Paradiso to ensure that the allottees vacate the flats without any delay.
The directions issued to the management pertaining to the evacuation of flats stem from ongoing concerns about the structural integrity of the building after a tragic incident on February 10, 2022, when the floor of the drawing room on the sixth floor of Tower D in the same society collapsed to the first floor, resulting in the deaths of two women.
In the wake of this disaster, the district administration commissioned IIT-Delhi to conduct a comprehensive structural audit of all the towers in society.
According to the Times of India report, findings of the audit led to towers D, E, F, G, H, and now J being declared unsafe for occupancy. While five of these towers have already been evacuated, eight families continue to reside in Tower J. Towers A, B, and C are currently deemed safe. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav has set a deadline of August 22 for the complete evacuation of Tower J.
"In light of the current circumstances, we have issued notices to the eight families still residing in Tower J of Chintels Paradiso society. These notices include orders to vacate their flats within the specified time period. If not complied with, there is a significant risk of disaster. We are prepared to take legal action against residents under the Disaster Management Act, and if necessary, we will proceed with the evacuation of the flats with the assistance of police," Yadav was quoted by The Times of India as saying.
