In a public grievance session held in Ambala on Monday, Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij ordered the suspension of Station House Officer (SHO) Satish Kumar for allegedly failing to register an FIR despite prior instructions.  The incident unfolded when a complainant brought up a matter previously addressed by Vij. The minister expressed strong disapproval, noting that SHO Kumar had delayed action on the case despite his direct orders.

The incident occurred at the PWD Rest House in Ambala Cantt, where Vij was conducting a public hearing. The complainant alleged that her FIR was not registered, prompting the minister’s immediate intervention.

In a video shared by news agency IANS, Vij was seen demanding answers from the SHO, asking, “Did you register the FIR or not?” The officer explained that it was a civil matter, but Vij dismissed the excuse, saying, “First register the FIR, and then look into what needs to be done. It’s the law to file a complaint first.”

Vij, visibly agitated, added, “Who are you to stop an FIR from being filed? Suspend him. Go away. He does as he pleases in every matter.” “Are laws going to be different for you?” he remarked, as the cop tried to present his arguments.

Throughout the session, the woman repeatedly urged the minister to take decisive action, which he assured by issuing the suspension order.

The complainant, whose identity has not been disclosed, urged Vij to take swift action.

This is not the first time Vij has reprimanded officials publically. Last month, he pulled up officers in the transport department, instructing them to ensure no vehicles without registration numbers were seen on the roads, warning of strict action otherwise.
