The first snowfall of the season was witnessed in Gulmarg’s Afarwat of Jammu & Kashmir on Monday. A light spell of snowfall was also seen at Razdan Top in Bandipora district in the evening.


The snowfall of the season turned the Afarwat mountains into a stunning winter wonderland. It began on Monday afternoon and covered the peaks with a pristine layer of snow, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike.

Gulmarg, Other High-Altitude Areas Of Kashmir Receive Snowfall On October


According to a report by Outlook Traveller, Gulmarg and other high-altitude areas of Kashmir received fresh snowfall during October, marking the season’s first snow at Razdan Pass on the way to Gurez.


Notably, Gulmarg, Sinthan Top, and other mountainous regions have seen early snowfall, signaling an early arrival of winter. Reports indicate that Gulmarg experienced light snowfall overnight, causing temperatures to drop and creating a wintry atmosphere.


The fresh snowfall has delighted tourists in Gulmarg, who had anticipated autumn scenery but were pleasantly surprised by the snow-dusted landscape.


Furthermore, Sinthan Top in South Kashmir also saw significant snowfall, exciting tourists planning trips to the region in the coming months. This snowfall marks the beginning of colder weather, with Gulmarg’s famous ski resort in Baramulla receiving two to three inches of snow.


Additionally, moderate snowfall was reported at Razdan Pass, which links Bandipora to Gurez near the Line of Control in north Kashmir. Despite the snow, the Bandipora-Gurez road remains open for traffic.


The region is currently experiencing a significant decline in temperatures, affecting both the high-altitude areas and the plains. This downward trend is likely to continue in the coming days, indicating the onset of colder weather.
