A sub-inspector lost his arm, and a police driver was injured while retrieving the bodies of two passengers who fell from a moving train and died on the tracks in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place near the Karaiya Bhadoli railway station, about 260 km away from Bhopal on Sunday evening.


According to a report by news agency ANI, Superintendent of Police Shrut Kirti Somvanshi stated that Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajendra Mishra, who heads the Bandakpur police post, had arrived on the scene after receiving reports that two men had fallen from a moving train and died.


Preliminary investigation confirmed that Mishra and his team were in the process of clearing the bodies from the tracks when a train unexpectedly approached, hitting them.


Eyewitnesses say one person tried to pull Mishra away, but during the attempt, the right arm of Mishra was severed, and he suffered head injuries. "The exact circumstances of the incident will be clear once the injured officers are able to speak," SP Somvanshi told news agency PTI.


Sub-Inspector, Police Driver Rushed To Government Medical College In Jabalpur 


When questioned about the officers’ inability to hear the approaching train, the SP commented, "It remains a mystery as to why they did not hear the train approaching. We have heard that they might have been engaged in phone calls during the incident, but this information will have to be verified."






Both Mishra and the injured driver, Yawar Khan, were rushed to the Government Medical College in Jabalpur for treatment. Due to complications, Mishra’s severed arm could not be reattached. The officer will continue treatment in Jabalpur and may be transferred to another medical facility by air ambulance if needed.


Porter Crushed Between Train Carriages During Shunting Op At Barauni Station


A railway worker lost his life while shunting operation at Barauni Junction in Bihar's Begusarai district on Saturday, police said. The victim identified as, Amar Kumar Rao, was a porter who was working at the station under the Sonpur Railway Division.


According to a report by NDTV, Rao died on platform 5 of Barauni Junction while performing his duties. As per the railway sources, the accident happened when he was attempting to open the coupling of the Lucknow-Barauni Express (No: 15204) that arrived from Lucknow Junction. Unexpectedly, the train reversed, resulting in him trapping between the carriages.


Following the incident, onlookers raised the alarm. The train driver reportedly left the train and fled without attempting to reverse or prevent the accident, leading to Rao being struck and fatally crushed by the moving engine.
