A 52-year-old man was shot dead in Jasdan, Rajkot by his 80-year-old father after a dispute over his father's decision to remarry. The accused, identified as Rambhai Boricha, was arrested following the complaint filed by the wife of the victim.
According to a report by India Today, Deputy SP KG Zala confirmed that the victim, Prabhat Boricha, was shot dead by his father on Monday. In the initial speculations, it was suspected that a land dispute led to the crime, but later, with the investigation, the police discovered that the conflict arose after Rambhai wished to marry again following the death of his wife 20 years ago.
Tensions within the family had escalated due to his decision, leading to frequent arguments, and he had previously threatened to harm his son and his family. On the morning of the incident, Prabhat's wife, Jayaben, accompanied her husband to serve tea to his father. As she was heading back, she heard two gunshots from inside the house.
Jayaben rushed back to find the door locked. Moments later, Rambhai emerged holding a gun and attempted to attack her, prompting her to flee. When her son returned home, she recounted the incident to him. They discovered Prabhat lying in a pool of blood, while Rambhai sat nearby. Prabhat was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Based on Jayaben's complaint, the police arrested Rambhai Boricha, and further investigations are underway.
