"In view of this call (protest march by farmers), we have made strong, robust arrangements at all the major, minor borders in East Delhi. We have done barricading, have anti-riot equipment. There is an elaborate arrangement, we are also ensuring that common people won't get affected, we are also coordinating with traffic police. Protesting farmers, who are marching to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh have reached near Mahamaya flyover of Noida in large numbers.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary alleged that some people are misleading the farmers for political purposes.
"Government always asks about the interests of the farmers and brings schemes related to them, but it is possible that some people are misleading the farmers for political purposes," he said.
The minister said the government is ready to talk to the agitating farmer provided they are not coming forward with any political motive.
Heavy police deployment has been made at Delhi Gate entry point. A riot control vehicle has been stationed on the main road which is seeing very slow movement of traffic. Only one car is being allowed to pass at a time.
The protesting farmers have breached three layers of barricading put up by the police as they seek to move forward towards Delhi. A situation of confrontation has unfolded as police personnel and protesting farmers come face to face.

Farmers Protest March Live Updates: Farmers on tractors and on foot began their march from Noida to the Parliament complex in Delhi on Monday, leading to massive traffic jam on the Delhi-Noida border. Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have put up barriers on the Noida-Delhi border points to prevent the farmers from marching into the national capital. Bhartiya Kisan Parishad leader Sukhbir Khalifa on Sunday announced that the farmer organisation's members will begin their march around noon today. The march will begin near the Mahamaya flyover and will move towards Delhi on foot and tractors.

All types of goods vehicles will be restricted on the route from Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk. Meanwhile, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM, non-political) have also planned foot marches towards Delhi from December 6. These farmers have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, after security forces stopped their march to Delhi.

The protesting farmers had attempted to march towards Delhi on February 13 and February 21 but were stopped by the security forces deployed at the capital's borders. A panel of then Union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai held talks with the farmer representatives on February 18. The farmers had then rejected the Centre's proposal of buying pulses, maize and cotton at the MSP by government agencies for five years.
