Delhi News: Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) woke to a pleasant morning on Monday (September 2) after the rain lasted over several areas of the city last night. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is likely to witness a cloudy sky with moderate rainfall today, with the maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
As per the weather department, the humidity in the metro city was recorded at 88 per cent at 8.30 am. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was also recorded in the "satisfactory" category with a reading of 53 till 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".
As per IMD, the monsoon trough is likely to return close to Delhi-NCR on Monday, bringing with it more rainfall. The Met Department has issued a yellow alert for the national capital, predicting light to moderate rainfall. IMD said the region is likely to witness light rain till Thursday, with moderate showers at isolated places.
For tomorrow, i.e. Tuesday, September 3, IMD said Delhi will experience a minimum and maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, respectively. The humidity levels are expected to remain at 61 per cent, the weather department said.
In its forecast for the week ahead, IMD predicted temperature in Delhi NCR is likely to drop slightly over the week. The maximum temperature may dip to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may fall to 24 degrees Celsius by the end of the week. Earlier, IMD predicted above-normal rainfall activity over most parts of India in September.
