Heavy rain is expected to lash the national capital on Wednesday as the India Meteorological Department issued a 'yellow' alert for Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Light showers along with thunderstorms and lightning are expected in the national capital on Thursday as well.
The skies are likely to remain clear for the rest of the week.
As per the IMD, West Uttar Pradesh is predicted to experience "very heavy rain" on Wednesday prompting an "orange" alert while the skies are expected to remain clear for the rest of the week with no warning.
A 'yellow' warning has been issued for East Uttar Pradesh for heavy rain while no warning has been put in place for the rest of the week.

The IMD has sounded a 'yellow' alert for East Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh as well. Southwest Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy to very rainfall at isolated places while isolated heavy rainfall is likely to lash parts of southeast Uttar Pradesh.
The weather department has also issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday as a result of the depression formed over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and moving west-northwestwards. The depression is likely to move nearly west-northwestwards across north Madhya Pradesh & adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh and weaken into a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area during the next 24 hours, said the IMD in a bulletin dated September 18.
The IMD has flagged the impact of rainfall which could lead to localised flooding of roads, water logging in low-lying areas and "occasional reduction" in visibility. The rain could cause disruption to traffic in major cities and roadways due to water logging.
