An investigation into the case has been launched and more updates are awaited.

On Sunday, a young man was in critical condition after a speeding car hit him while he was crossing the road in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh. The impact of the collision was such that the victim went flying nearly seven feet into the air before he crashed onto the other side of the street, reported the Times of India.

The victim, identified as Nikhil, who was a resident of Paschimpuri, was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he was later referred to another hospital due to the severity of his injuries and his condition remains critical.

As per the police, the incident took place at around 1:30 am on Thursday after which a case was filed. The entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed outside a nearby house. In the 10-second footage, a white car speeding through the area was seen that hit the pedestrian before quickly fleeing. However, the car's license plate number was not visible in the footage.

Further investigation is underway to identify the vehicle and its driver, the officer said.
