A 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by three of his friends in the Shakarpur area of East Delhi after he refused to give them a treat for his new phone, police said on Tuesday. The suspects are all 16 years old and students of Class 9. They have been detained.


Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta said a patrol team noticed bloodstains near a samosa shop in Shakarpur around 7.15 pm on Monday and initiated an investigation. Local residents informed the team that a group of boys had stabbed another boy, who was rushed to LNJP Hospital.


DCP Gupta said the victim was identified as Sachin (16), who lived nearby. He suffered two stab wounds in the back, and succumbed to his injuries about an hour after the attack.

The officer said the incident occurred in full public view, when Sachin and a friend were returning home after purchasing a phone. The trio reportedly demanded a treat from Sachin to celebrate the purchase, and, when he refused, an argument broke out, resulting in the stabbing.


According to DCP Gupta, the trio was taken into custody on Tuesday.


The offenders were identified by police using CCTV video. Police said the dagger used in the attack had been recovered from the accused.


17-Year-Old Boy Stabbed To Death In Delhi


A 17-year-old boy, who had recently come out of an observation home, lost his life after being stabbed multiple times in the Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi on Friday.


"Around 6.30 pm, information about the stabbing incident in the Sangam Vihar area was received at Tigri police station," a senior police officer said, news agency PTI reported.


The victim was identified as Irfan and there were multiple stab injuries on his body. Police added that they were investigating the reason behind his killing, and a search was under way for the accused.


"We are checking CCTV to identify and nab the accused. Multiple teams have been formed. We are looking at all the angles. We got to know that the victim had recently come out of an observation home," the officer added.
