A woman journalist in Delhi on Friday alleged assault during a road rage incident while driving to a hospital with her sister on the morning of October 4. She took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to share her distressing experience, which she said occurred amidst heavy traffic on Dabri Road in Delhi.
According to Priti Pandey's account, she was navigating through significant congestion when a man approached her vehicle, threatening to smash the car window with rocks. The situation escalated quickly as the man began to hurl abuses and made indecent gestures.
In her X thread, Priti expressed her shock, stating, "A thug can come and take your life on the streets of Delhi while @DelhiPolice remains asleep. This morning, I experienced a horrifying incident." She detailed the ordeal further writing, "A man suddenly approached my car's bonnet with two large stones, threatening to break the window."
Priti recounted that after questioning the man, he began to undress and verbally assaulted her like a "madman."
She continued, "I sat back in the car, but a person on a bike with UP 14 number began to stop us from taking photos." The situation worsened when the biker allegedly hurled a large rock at her vehicle, shattering the glass and injuring her sister, who suffers from a lung condition.
Priti added, "I stood on the road for 50 minutes seeking help. This is the state of Delhi, despite informing the police through 112 and Twitter."
Despite her distress calls, Priti claimed the police were unresponsive and could not locate the attackers. She questioned the response of law enforcement, noting, "I am astonished that the attackers will only be caught if there is an effort to do so."
