Three Injured In Knife Attack In Karnataka
On September 18, another knife attack after a Ganesh immersion procession in Belagavi, Karnataka, left three participants injured. The victims, identified as Darshan Patil, Satish Pujari, and Praveen Gundiagola, were involved in an altercation that escalated after the event.
Belagavi Police Commissioner E. Martin said the incident occurred near the Civil Hospital, and not during the procession itself. During the Ganesh immersion procession, a minor altercation happened when two people bumped into each other while dancing. Police at the scene stepped in and separated the individuals to prevent the situation from escalating.
However, after the procession concluded, one of the individuals involved returned with friends and attacked the three victims with a knife. Initial investigations indicate that there was prior animosity between the accused and the victims, which may have played a role in the attack.
Commissioner Martin said, "The incident did not take place during the procession. Preliminary investigation reveals that there was some scuffle during the procession. After the procession ended, we came to know that there was already some enmity between the victim and the accused. They were all friends, so they came in a group to attack."
