Delhi: An 11-year-old girl on Friday was allegedly sexually assaulted in her classroom by a self-defence trainer at a government school in outer Delhi's Sultanpuri. Following this, the girl's family and some neighbours gathered outside the police station to stage protest. The police have now arrested the accused, Satish (45), who was conducting the classes at the school.

The incident took place with a class 7 student of Government Sarvodyaya Kanya Vidyalaya H Block Sultanpuri. The accused was not a regular teacher at school and conducting self defence classes at the school free of cost through an NGO, a police official told news agency PTI.

The Delhi Police has registered a case against the accused under section 351 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The victim's medical counselling and medical examination is being conducted.

Earlier, the minor's father claimed that neither the principal of the school nor the police have taken any action regarding the matter. He said that his daughter had called him up from someone's phone from school to tell him about the ordeal. She told him that her Karate teacher had touched her inappropriately during the class. He also allegedly threatened the minor that he would get her expelled from the school.

According to the father of the victim, he was made to wait outside the Sultanpuri police station for over two hours. He also claimed that the police were not listening to him and were not allowing him to meet his daughter, who was inside the police station with his wife.

The minor's father has demanded strict punishment for the accused teacher and the principal of the school, who he claimed supported the teacher and took no action.

"We went to the principal, but she was supporting that teacher. We wanted the principal to take action. We are here (at the police station) but no action has been taken so far...We want that teacher must be punished and the principal must be suspended as she is supporting that teacher," the victim's father said.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, police said.
