At least six people, including three minors, were arrested by the Delhi Police for their alleged involvement in a stone-pelting incident in Madanpur Khadar in the city.
Police received three PCR calls on February 16 regarding the stone-pelting, following which a team was dispatched to the spot to investigate the matter. However, no eyewitnesses came forward to register their statements, police officer told news agency PTI.
Some locals, on the condition of anonymity, provided the names of five individuals who were allegedly involved in the altercation. These five names included two adults and three minors, the police said.
The accused have been identified as Sanjeev and Sudhansoo, both 20-year-old, along with three minor boys aged between 12 and 14. The police officer said they were found to have been involved in stone-pelting over a minor dispute.
The police arrested them and booked the two adults. The minors were later released into the custody of their parents, the officer said.
During investigation, another suspect named Aman was identified. The police later traced and apprehended him at Pushta in Kalindi Kunj Road, and also recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession. The 21-year-old suspect was arrested, PTI reported.
The probe was reportedly initiated after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The purported video showed a group of peoplecreating a nuisance in a colony.
Police are currently searching for other accused as well. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
