Another incident of killing in the suspicion of black magic came to light from the Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh on September 13, where four persons of a family including a toddler were killed. They were killed because of a suspicion that a man in the family was practicing black magic which harmed the accused.

Police have detained 5 individuals, including a minor girl from the neighbourhood, who allegedly murdered a man, his two sisters, and an infant using hammers and sharp weapons on Thursday.

Speaking to TOI, Baloda Bazar SP Vijay Agrawal stated that the five suspects attacked the family of four, believing that the victims were practicing black magic.

The murders took place around 6 pm in Chharchhed village, Kasdol. The victims—Chaitram Kaivartya, 47; his sisters Jamuna, 28, and Yashoda, 30; and Jamuna's 11-month-old son, Yash—were brutally killed with hammers and sharp weapons. An elderly woman in the family survived the attack as she was not home at the time.
