Chennai Power Shutdown March 1, 2025: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has announced a scheduled power outage in several areas of Tamil Nadu on Saturday, affecting electricity supply for approximately five hours. The shutdown, which will take place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, is part of maintenance activities aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of the power supply system.
In Chennai, the affected areas include prominent localities such as:

- P.T. Mudhali Street
- Sami Pillai Street (part)
- A.P. Road
- Hunters Lane
- General Collins Road
- Madex Street
- V.V. Koil Street
- Kuravan Kulam
- Subbaha Naidu Street
- Nehru Outdoor and Indoor Stadium
- Apparao Garden
- Periya Thambi Street
- Andiyappan Street
- Anandha Krishnan Street
- P.K. Mudhali Street
- Choolai Area
- K.P. Park Area

Additionally, parts of Coimbatore will also experience a power shutdown, including: Paduvampally, Kanjapally, Kakapalayam and Chokampalayam.
The TNEB has assured residents that power will be restored before 2:00 pm but has urged them to make necessary arrangements to minimize inconvenience. Residents are advised to: charge all essential electronic devices in advance, schedule important tasks and errands around the outage timings, keep backup power sources such as candles, torches, and batteries ready.

This scheduled outage follows a similar power shutdown experienced in parts of Chennai during Maha Shivaratri, where areas like Saidapet West, Egmore, Arumbakkam, Red Hills, Mahalingapuram, and Shanti Colony were affected.
The TNEB has emphasised that these maintenance activities are crucial for ensuring a reliable power supply in the long term. Residents are requested to cooperate and plan accordingly to avoid any disruptions during the outage period.
