'Life At Risk': Champai Soren Says Hemant Soren Govt Withdraws His Security, Alleges 'Political Conspiracy'

Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren said he is not afraid of this move and added that the people of Jharkhand will ensure his safety.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren accused Hemant Soren-led government on Wednesday of withdrawing former security and endangering his life. He claimed that the removal of his security vehicles was part of a "political conspiracy."

"The Jharkhand government has taken away all security vehicles provided to me, putting my life at risk under a political conspiracy," Champai Soren stated, news agency PTI reported. However, he expressed resistance, saying, "I am not afraid of this move. The people of Jharkhand will ensure my safety."

He emphasised that he has never compromised on his principles and predicted that the people would deliver a strong response to the JMM-led coalition in the upcoming assembly elections.

"I have made it to politics after a lot of struggle... as soon as I received the call asking for withdrawal of security vehicle, I asked them to take it back immediately. I thought there might have been some emergency. I did not wait for even one minute," he told PTI on withdrawal of his security vehicles.

Reacting to Chief Minister Hemant Soren's allegation that the BJP "bought" political leaders in Jharkhand, Champai retorted, "No one can buy me. I have clearly explained the reasons for leaving the JMM."

In August, Champai Soren left the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and joined the BJP, citing dissatisfaction with the state government's "current style of functioning and policies" after serving the party for many years.

After the resignation and subsequent arrest by the ED in a money laundering case, the former Saraikella MLA became the chief minister of Jharkhand on February 2. Later, following the swearing-in of Hemant Soren as chief minister again on July 4, Champai Soren resigned from the post on July 3.

'Maha Parivartan' Rally

Over the 'Maha Parivartan' rally, he called it a sign that the BJP is going to win in the upcoming Jharkhand elections and will form the government. "The Maha Parivartan rally is a sign that the BJP's victory in the coming elections and forming the government is certain," Soren said, news agency ANI reported.

The 'Parivartan Yatra' was officially launched by Amit Shah in the Sahibganj district of Jharkhand on September 20. During the launch, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi, and former CM Champai Soren were in attendance.

Former Union Minister and BJP leader Arjun Munda also noted the overwhelming public support for the Parivartan Rath.

Jharkhand is gearing up for elections to its 81-member legislative assembly later this year, although the Election Commission of India (ECI) has yet to announce the dates.
