Bihar: 50 Industrial Units Participate In Synergy Summit To Bridge Gap Between Academia And Industry

A summit in Bihar aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

In a bid to bridge the gap between academia and industry, a summit was held at the Government Engineering College in Bihar's Vaishali on Friday. 

The 'Synergy Summit: Bridging Academia and Industry' was held under the aegis of the department of science, technology, and technical education. Over 50 major industrial units participated in the summit.

The event was aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and collaboration for technological advancements and employment opportunities. 

The event highlighted the government's efforts in setting up advanced labs, centres of excellence and startup cells in educational institutions. 

The event was attended by Bihar Minister of Science, technology, and Technical Education, Sumit Kumar Singh among other senior officials from Bihar Engineering University, BIADA and district administration. Speaking at the event, Singh highlighted the need for collaboration between academia and industry for the state's development, aligning education with industry demands.

He also stated that under the 'Saat Nishchay' initiative of the state, all engineering and polytechnic colleges have established high-quality departmental laboratories and language labs to enhance communication skills among students, in accordance with the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, for regular education.

District Superintendent of Police, Harkishore Rai urged students to adopt a mindset of job creation rather than job seeking. 

Bihar Industry Association president, KPS Kesari, suggested students enhance their learning experiences. He proposed that industry visits should be made mandatory for students, emphasizing the importance of real-world exposure. Additionally, he advocated for the introduction of entrepreneurship as an optional subject in alignment with the criteria of enterprises, aiming to foster a new generation of innovators.

During the event, it was announced that the Department would introduce three new courses: Entrepreneurship, Sales, and Food Processing. 

Around 50 students were offered internships and placement at the event by the representatives of the industry attending the meet.
