A woman sub-inspector was caught red-handed accepting a bribe for settling a case in Bihar's Vaishali district. The accused SI, Poonam Kumari did not stop here as she tried to bribe Vigilance Investigation Bureau officials who came to arrest her. 


The video of the cop's arrest has surfaced on social media and is being widely shared. 


Poonam, posted at Hajipur town police station, was arrested by the vigilance team from her residence in Digghi Khurd's locality under the Sadar police station area, according to the Times of India. 


She was caught red-handed by the vigilance team which arrived on the scene while the accused SI was receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person for settling a case, as per a press release issued by the VIB, Patna.






"We had received several complaints of the SI taking bribes for settling cases" said the vigilance Deputy Superintendent of Police leading the team. A team from the vigilance department conducted a raid at her residence and arrested her on Thursday, the DSP said. The bribe money was also recovered from her possession though the cop claimed she had not taken any bribe.

The accused cop is not new to controversy as an audio clip of hers went viral about a year ago where she was heard demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000 from one Santu Rai to settle a case. She was suspended by the then Vaishali SP, Ravi Ranjan Kumar after the audio clip went viral. Later, she was transferred to the town police station, as per the TOI report.
