A 23-year-old man was killed in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal after he tried to approach a woman following her breakup. The incident took place in Bhopal’s Gautam Nagar area on May 14.

The victim, identified as Shivam Kalam, was attacked by the woman's ex-lover using a sharp weapon. The incident unfolded behind City Multi Hospital, leaving the city in shock. Kalam was critically injured after being attacked and was rushed to a nerby hospital. He was later referred to AIIMS, where he died during treatment.

According to a report by India Today, the woman had recently ended her relationship, and the victim had shown interest in her. Investigators believe that this was the root cause of the fatal clash.

Govindpura police station in-charge, Awadhesh Singh Tomar, confirmed the sequence of events in a statement to Aaj Tak. He said investigations revealed that the whole matter revolved around the woman, who had recently broken up with her boyfriend, Shiva Rajput, following a dispute.

What Happened On The Day Of The Incident

She resides in a rented house owned by the victim's sworn sister. As a regular visitor to the house, Shivam Kalam developed a personal interest in the woman, particularly after learning of her breakup with Shiva. The two reportedly met a few times through mutual friends in recent weeks.

The confrontation occurred when Shiva Rajput, accompanied by his friend Mahi, visited the woman’s residence on the day of the attack. Upon discovering the victim's growing closeness to the woman, an argument broke out between the two. However, the situation quickly escalated, resulting in Rajpit violently assaulting Kalam, the report said.

Police have arrested Shiva Rajput in connection with the murder. His alleged accomplice, Mahi, still remains at large. Authorities have launched a manhunt to nab him and are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding his whereabouts.
