Bengaluru news: A 26-year-old woman named was found murdered, her body dismembered and stuffed into a refrigerator in her home on Viranna Road, located under the Vyalikaval police jurisdiction of Bengaluru. Residents of the area alerted the authorities on Saturday morning after detecting a strong stench coming from the house.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers forced entry into the first-floor apartment of the three-storied building and made the gruesome discovery. Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may have occurred four to five days prior, with the killer dismembering the body and storing the pieces in the refrigerator, possibly to delay the discovery and avoid detection.
Mahalakshmi, the victim, is believed to be originally from outside Karnataka but had been living in the state for some time. Police are now reviewing surveillance footage from CCTV cameras in the vicinity and suspect that someone close to the victim may have been involved in the crime.
The body, which was cut into over 30 pieces, has been sent for forensic analysis, as reported by PTI. Senior police officials have cordoned off the area, and a thorough investigation is underway to identify the perpetrator and uncover the motive behind the brutal murder. Authorities suspect that the crime may have taken place approximately two weeks ago.
In May 2022, Shraddha Walker was allegedly strangled to death by a man and her body parts were cut into 35 pieces was dumped in a fridge inside their house. Later, Aaftab Poonawala also disposed some of the body parts in Delhi. The accused was zeroed down by the police based on Google location and search history of his mobile phone. In the places searched by him on his phone, the police later found the body parts of the victim.
